Open Your Mind

Open Your Mind represents the blurring of boundaries between competition and theater, serving as an open platform for dancers of various genres. Here, you’ll encounter ballerinas, breakers, hip-hoppers, circus performers, and who knows even a belly dancer. It’s all about courage, creativity, and innovation. Open Your Mind is a fusion of a traditional street dance battle and improvisational theater. Each time, unexpected and refreshing elements are added to the battle rounds, making it an exciting and dynamic experience.

The organization behind Open Your Mind is Sample Culture. This organization provides a platform for urban dance creators and supports their development. Since 2013, they have been organizing Open Your Mind and took over the organization of Urban Dansdagen in 2020. André Grekhov serves as the artistic director. He has been active as an Urban Dancer since 1997 and worked for 10 years at Dynamo Eindhoven on socio-cultural projects in the field of urban culture. For these projects, he has won awards from the Oranje Fonds and Fonds Cultuur Participatie. As a dancer, he was crowned world champion in the Experimental Hip Hop category in 2012. In 2013, as a creator in urban dance, he received the Dance Prize from the Prins Bernard Cultuur Fonds.
